Who is it that determines success in a piece? Is it the writer? The reader? Are you successful when your work gets published and bought in stores? Or is it much more straightforward? Might it be that as long as the creation is appreciated by a select few, you will be happy?
I know a piece I've worked on is successful when those who read my work enjoy the experience. If I can make my readers laugh at a joke or leave them with a sense of wonder and self-reflection, this is how I know I have succeeded.
As I go through the process of writing each piece, my biggest goal is to give my reader something to take away. I want to ensure that what I write is easy to understand. I hope my writing is interesting enough to keep people entertained and engrossed in the piece.
Growing up, I used to love reading anything I could get my hands on, but as I've grown older, my attention span has shrunk. In today's world of technology and fast-paced society, it is consequential for me to produce works that keep the reader enthralled with the creation. When a piece is easy to read, flows smoothly, and keeps the reader's attention, I know a work is successful.
