My First Memories as a Writer

My first memories of literature come from a young age. Both reading and writing are things I have loved since I was a child. The prospect of taking anything my little brain could imagine and bringing it into reality through storytelling, was something that made me unreasonably happy. I first got into writing when I was about ten years old, having just finished my first novel series. I was incredibly inspired by the characters and their adventures, so I aspired to create my own. My creations of paper and ink got to live out all my fairytale dreams, from the most mundane to the greatest fantasies. However, as young as I was, my writing was near illegible, and all the plot lines were disjointed and made very little sense when read together. However, I didn't stop. As the years passed, my writings became less frequent as I found other interests, but I kept on reading and wrote short stories here and there. I discovered that poetry came comfortably to me, so I started using that as a medium to express emotions and feelings, which my brain could not strictly identify. Being so busy these days, I have unfortunately fallen out of practice when it comes to writing for pleasure. All my time goes into writing for class assignments. I still love to write when the story flows, and I am very excited about this blogging assignment because it gives me a proper excuse to sit down and write in the midst of my busy schedule.
