How Blogging Has Impacted My Life

Journaling has honestly been something that I was never really good at maintaining. I would always try and write every day or every other day for a while but it would never last longer than a couple weeks at most. Having these weekly blog posts has given me the motivation to write something almost every day if only to get my thoughts down for the purpose of a future post.

I have learned to find my own voice within my writing as well as to not be scared to write absolute garbage. chances are whenever I start writing a piece it will suck. I have learned to persevere through that initial feeling of wanting to throw out my writing and just start over with something new, by continuing to free-write around that thought until I have an idea or a broader piece of writing which I actually like.

I've also learned to be happy with whatever I can get done. There have been quite a few posts that were written last minute or did not turn out the way I would have hoped, and I have had to reconcile with the fact that that is just a part of life and my journey as a writer. For example, I am writing this nearly an hour before the midnight deadline and probably not going to edit it that much, to be frank.

With everything else going on in my life, it has been a challenge and somewhat of an adventure to figure out how to get these short pieces of writing out every single week. However, I do plan on continuing to write over the summer and into the future. I think it has the potential to become a good outlet for me next fall as I'm thrown back into studies, as well as when I go abroad to Ireland in the spring.

I look forward to seeing where this blog goes and how it evolves throughout the next seasons of my life.
